Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid

5.0

Sometimes you read for gritty reality, sometimes you read for pure escape. This one falls somewhere in between. There are several things about this book that stretch credulity, but there are also some genuinely moving moments. Nina is maybe a little too pure, the reunion scene at the end might be a little too much, and it's hard to even imagine there are any lawyers who wouldn't have been thrilled to go after one of the biggest stars on the planet for skipping out on child support. But the bond between the siblings is believable, and it's the best thing about this book. I said in my profile that my star ratings are purely about how much I enjoyed reading the book, and that means this is a five star book, or at least four and a half rounded up. It’s like slurping down a chocolate milkshake on a hot day.
