The Nanny Returns
by Emma McLaughlin, Nicola Kraus
I want to know why this book had to exist. If nothing was really going to change for the characters, then why did this book have to exist.
Nan is still neurotic, even after achieving all her dreams from the first book. The Mr. and Mrs. are still terrible people, they've added to their family because it makes them look better? Again, I get this is very real and what happens to actual families but why does this poor child have to suffer, especially since his brother, the-now-teen Grover from the first book turns out exactly like we expected him to, which is an entitled little shit. AGAIN, I get this is a reflection of what happens when you spoil your kids rotten while simultaneously ignoring them, but I came to this novel hoping maybe something good would have happened after the first book.
There is something of a happy ending but it's not satisfactory for me, not after the rollercoaster of the rest of the book.
