I am shocked that I enjoyed this book. After seeing bits and pieces of the HBO show and I not being a huge romance reader I didn’t think this would be a good fit. But I love historical fiction and know that the books are almost always better. And indeed this was the case.

I found Claire to be less annoying in the books and more relatable. I’m the book she is definitely a more rounded character versus one that is flat. I find her actions to survive in a time period far from her own to be the definition of a strong female lead. I love the different reasons Jamie fell for her. I also enjoyed learning a lot of Scottish history along the way.
