The Empire of Gold by S.A. Chakraborty

5.0

An incredible ending to a beautiful trilogy. I sped through this as quickly as I could manage. As this is the third and final book in the series, I’ll keep my review brief and spoiler free!

This book picks up right where The Kingdom of Copper leaves off. One thing I’ve praised this series for is how SA Chakraborty builds tension throughout each book. It’s intense and I found myself holding my breath through some scenes.

Honestly this book had me in my feelings for 700+ pages. I laughed, I cried, I cheered.

The end of this trilogy felt unsurprising and right, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t plenty of twists and turns along the way. Everything comes together beautifully, with ONE exception where I was just a little miffed at the explanation given to a question I’ve had since book one. Aside from that, you get so many answers in this book and it feels so satisfying.

I love each of these characters like my children and I love how they’ve grown throughout the series. I love their relationships and friendships. I love how much more clever they become as the series goes on.

I will genuinely miss living in this world, and that is one of the highest compliments I can give.
