The Fearing: Air and Dust by John F. D. Taff is a culminating piece of the story readers have been waiting for. The first two books primarily built the world, set the scene, and introduced characters. Book three is where the plot thickens. Finally we get a firm grasp on this nightmare landscape and why our deepest, darkest fears are brought to life. Taff also introduces character's that are vital to the story. This installment really brings in a new kind of terror as well. Not only are our fears running rampant but Tim Jacoby arrives which delivers a whole new factor to this already terrifying tale. Buckle-up folks, you're about to go for a ride.
Here's the thing, a lot has happened in the first two books of the series but I have been craving more from the plot. This book delivered that. Everything is starting to come together but not before our character's witness some deeply, DEEPLY horrific things. The undead walk the earth, vampires on a killing spree and an all consuming darkess is swallowing everything up in its path. This book is grim. There is a beacon of hope for humanity though and it comes in the form of characters that might just be the key to ending all of this. I was actually in awe at how thrilling this book was compared to the others as well. John Taff firmly cemented me as a fan of his writing in book one and two but book three really blew me away with the depths of horror this author is willing to go for fans of the genre.
John F.D. Taff "The King of Pain" wrote yet another fantastic piece of fiction that brings the series together. I am in love with these books and I feel like I am incapable of giving this book the praise it deserves. I HIGHLY recommend that you buy the books in The Fearing series as soon as possible. Taff is a gifted writer who has crafted an incredibly imaginative and atmospheric dystopian series that is absolutely terrifying. I dare you to face your fears and read these books.
