The Red Scholar's Wake by Aliette de Bodard

3.0

This was a fun book that I probably would not have thought about in the future if it wasn't for the fact that it is about a woman and an AI spaceship falling in love.

It is a good time but I recommend not thinking too much about it. If you do pay too much attention you will see that the pacing is all over the place, the "villains" motivation are generic and boring, the central conflict of are pirate good or evil feels shallow, and you start to wonder "would a son really be that interested in his mothers dating life?".

Anyways, a fun little story that is not perfect but I recommend.
