I loved this, it was so warm and evocative to read. I liked that it didn’t feel the need to be too dramatic or tense etc yet still had some really poignant moments. I listened to the audiobook and loved Meryl Streep’s narration (except for her voice for Maise which was oddly gruff and always seemed out of place). I thought the plot unfolding was really clever and there were bits that were surprising. I liked that it was set in the pandemic but didn’t feel like a ‘2020 pandemic book’ and that their lockdown experience was closer to my own in terms of a family reunited.
