I thought this book was good! Lukens impressed me again with their writing style— they convey the full range of emotions beautifully. This one didn’t break my heart, but it was tense at times and honey-sweet at others, and both moods felt natural. I loved the characters, especially Athlen. There were some characters who I wanted more for, but they were rather minor characters. The writing is engaging, and I liked the unique take on merfolk, sea witches, and magic.
