What You Did
by Claire McGowan
I main character here is a complete idiot and I'm not sure how this book continued after the first few chapters. The premise is as follows: A group of friends from college are having a reunion of sorts 25 years later and, during this reunion, one of the women is raped. She accuses her best friend's husband of the rape. This puts the main character smack dab in the middle: Do you believe your best friend or your husband? Okay -- the premise is quite interesting. Unfortunately within a few chapters you realize that the plot is going to take you through backstories from college, uncover 'secrets' that these people have, and you find out rather quickly no one here is likable.
Spoilers ahead....... When you find out that your husband and best friend were having a lengthy affair, that's when you walk away. At that point you don't sit around pondering if your husband is a liar or if your best friend is a liar... just walk away and be done with it. I was done with this book less than 20% through it because of this nonsense.
Terrible characters with lots of secrets, a 'twist' at the end that honestly isn't that amazing, and overall a bland book that had a good premise but definitely failed to deliver.
