The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work: A Practical Guide from the Country's Foremost Relationship Expert, Revised and Updated by John Gottman, Nan Silver

inspiring reflective slow-paced

2.5

A lot more old fashioned than I was expecting for something that is so widely regarded and recommended. The early parts about emotional connection and having friendship at the foundation of your marriage were really helpful and inspiring. Lost me at the inability to talk about gender differences with any kind of nuance—he chalks it up to biological determinants and glosses over anything that might complicate this (which then puts the burden of almost everything back on women).  No even basic recognition of same sex marriages.
