3.5 Stars. Lust, Love & Loads of Frustration

I truly enjoy the premises of this story, but getting down to the basics with Breslin, Asher & Landon takes the whole book and requires a lot of reading between the lines. Rather than describing what the characters are feeling, thinking or hope to do, the author tells you rather than allowing the reader to connect. It’s the part I like the least and why I rate this book 3.5 stars. I want to empathize with them, but the writing isn’t there. Bummer.

Angst, frustration, raging hormones and the confusion of being an adult in love & lust in college are true for all three. Themes include: sexual experimentation, threesomes (but not the gritty details), letting go of the past, first love, and coming to terms with who one is and what makes you happy.

Despite the blurb indicating m/m, m/f and m/f/m intimate encounters, the focus is mostly on m/f and a few oral m/m scenes. Erotic in nature, but the writing of the scenes doesn’t evoke the energy nor any emotions I expect from a seasoned author. Sure, you know what’s happening, but that’s it. Boring!

Unfortunately, this book doesn’t have any scenes of the trio together. The cliffhanger ending is anticipated and disappointing. I was hoping there was going to be interaction between Asher & Bre before the book ended and then book two would be more about the relationships. Yes, frustrating for the reader and frustration amongst the characters. I’m hoping book 2 will have a faster timeline and not drag out. Onward.
