HOT Rebel by Lynn Raye Harris

5.0

HOT Rebel by Lynn Raye Harris is a 2014 publication. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I hate using those overused and often over the top statements like: “ This is the best book in the series so far” and “Lynn Raye Harris has done it again”. However... This is the best book in series and Lynn didn't just do it again, she somehow did it better.

First of all, not only do we have a hot alpha male is Nick “Bandy” Brandon, but we have an alpha female in Victoria Royal. This is an interesting combination that pits two strong willed and determined people against each other. Victoria is known as a traitor after she was kicked out of the army. Her sister Emily has gotten herself into a very dangerous situation by becoming romantically involved with a man who has terrorist connections. Victoria has aligned herself with the worst of the worst looking for her sister. She is a gun for hire, a mercenary, and when she stumbles across Nick, a man she trained with long ago, he is stunned to see her and saddened by her choices. When Nick's boss explains Victoria could be of use to them and promises her he will help get her sister back, the two have to work together on a very tense, dangerous mission. Nick doesn't trust Victoria at first and who could blame him, but once he sees that getting her sister back is her one and only goal he is all in. The biggest problem they will face by working together is this pesky attraction between them and it's the most inopportune moment this to happen, but time is awastin and it's either now or never.

I thought the storyline was really suspenseful, more so than usual. Terrorist and germ warfare can keep a person up at night. Trying to imagine your sister being the clutches of such an evil person would have to be unbearable. Even if Emily's choices cost Victoria her place in the army, her family duties come first and since she had the training and nothing left to lose she does what she can to save her sister. I loved Nick's character and his way of always calming Victoria down and having her look at the situation in a more rational manner. Sometimes I hate that oh so reasonable explanation guys have that makes sense when you think about it. But, this was a good thing for Victoria because ,of the two , she has had the worst time of things. Nick has had a few bad experiences in life, but for the most part he's in a good place when the story begins. The book was well paced and the romance was super hot and spicy. Lots of sizzle and burn in this one. The chemistry is great and this pair are going to make a great team. For this one I will dust of the 5 star rating.
