I find the characters very childish. I think the author tried to cover too much ground in too little space. At the beginning of the book, it is implied that the protagonist is attracted to women, but this is disregarded as soon as she starts interacting with her male love interest. I would have liked to see her bisexuality portrayed more openly, given that I understand she is bisexual.
The only thing I really liked was the magic system, although I find it surprising and contradictory that the disease she carries only affects her, not the other users.
The resolution of the conflict with the bankrupt kingdom wasn't very clear to me, but anyway, as I said, I don't think the story has been woven together 100%.
