The Chestnut Man
by Søren Sveistrup
I love Scandi crime and this one doesn’t disappoint. It took me a while to get hooked as I was lost with the vast numbers of characters but by page 200 I was engrossed.
It’s a novel about murders which are investigated by a police duo mismatched but are actually great together. Each crime scene has a chestnut doll having been left there with the fingerprints belonging to a child of a previous kidnapping / murder case.
There were parts of this story which were really seedy, horrific in explanation but not too bad enough to put me off. I did think there are some really really sick people in the world.
The case clues all eventually tie together for the detectives and I hope this pairing will feature again in this authors work.
I know the author was the screen writer for The Killing which I loved and I think this book would make a fabulous film/serial. A great read and will be looking for more of his work in the future
5 star review. A great Xmas pressie from my family. Pick up and have a read .
