One of my favorite books, it reads like a dream. It can be a little hard to follow unless you go in with an open mind and know that this is a piece of *weird* fiction. What Vandermeer excels at most here is truly making Area X feel like a dreamscape or a nightmare. It’s a book that is worth reading more than once.
