Final Girls by Riley Sager
3.0

The first ¾ of this book is slow, as other reviewers have said. However, what I think makes this book good is how it kept me always feeling like we were on the edge of something happening. I kept waiting & turning the page just to see if something was about to happen

I was also satisfied with the final chapters. I had my suspicions all along, partly due to a spoiler I accidentally saw on Instagram, but I did not imagine it playing out the way it did

I did feel like the flashbacks to the past at Pine Cottage weren’t necessarily needed. They didn't reveal anything interesting or important to the present day or what happened that night, not at least until the end but then the truth wasn’t revealed from those flashbacks

I also didn’t care, or really like any of the characters as much as I should have. Him was actually my favourite character and the part of me who loves dark romances was still somewhat rooting for him at least until he opened up about some of his past

In addition to the little things above, my main frustration came from Sam/Tina. She added to the suspense yes, but omg the way she came into Quincy’s life like a whirlwind and Quincy just let her really annoyed me. I kept just wanting her to kick her out or face up to her but it never happened

Overall, given the fact that I flew through over half the book in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down, I think this was a pretty good thriller, especially for the debut that it was!
