Very sweet overall. I enjoyed the fantasy world in this, and the fact that there was a lot of German folklore. I would have liked the story to address the treatment of the Jewish(?) folks in this world more, and I was a little sad to see this not get resolved at all - the King who suppresses the Yeva stays in power, the Yeva stay in the ghetto, only Lorelei rises the ranks, very much loyal to the king despite her supposed longing to free her people. Adelheid gets killed as punishment for trying to fight for her people against the tyrant. Read without that critical lense though, it was a cute slow burn romance.
