The Cats of Tanglewood Forest by Charles de Lint

4.0

I first read this book many years ago when I was around 10 or so and I absolutely loved it. I believe this was the first fantasy novel I'd ever read and it was what made me fall in love with the fantasy genre. I decided to reread it now because of how much of an impression it had on me back then and I wanted to see if it still held up now.
I thought that I remembered what happens in the book but it turns out I only remembered the beginning and a little bit of the ending, but other than that almost the whole book ended up being new to me lol.
It was an enjoyable read for sure and a little nostalgic too, but it didn't leave me with the same feeling as it did back then. But I'd say that's just because I've grown up and am into different kinds of books now, but I can definitely see why I loved it so much when I was little.
Overall, it was a really good story, with cute little illustrations and characters and I could see myself even reading it again in the future when I'm even older just for the nostalgic feel and to travel back in time to when I first read it.
