The book is a quick read with a lot of short chapters.
The raider gets the POV of a married couple: Sarah and Adam. Sarah is a successful defense attorney. She is dedicated to her cases and often works late hours. Adam is a once successful writer. They live in Washington DC and recently purchased a vacation home about an hour away outside of the city. This is a place where Adam can go to get inspired and write. Because of Sarah’s busy work schedule, she often can’t join Adam at the vacation home. Adam meets a waitress names Kelly and starts to have an affair with her. One day Scott has sex with Kelly falls asleep with her and leaves in the middle of the night because he promised Sarah he would be home that evening. The next morning, Scott is arrested because the cleaning ladies found Kelly stabbed multiple times in his bed. Sara being the best attorney in the area defends Scott. Scott gets out on bail and is awaiting trial in the vacation home. Scott doesn’t trust Kelly, understandably since he cheated on her and they wouldn’t be in this position if it wasn’t for the infidelity. They both are looking into different suspects.
