I have some mixed feelings about Daydreamer by Susie Tate. The premise was interesting, and I liked Lucy as a character. She's shy, lost in her fantasy worlds, and clearly not suited for the corporate world, especially when it comes to numbers. But Felix? He frustrated me, especially in the first half of the book. He constantly ignored who Lucy really was, barely even listening to her, which made it hard to root for their romance in the beginning.
Speaking of romance, I found it lacking. There were moments of intimacy, and Felix did show he cared later on. Like keeping her warm due to her condition. But overall, I wanted more depth in their connection. That being said, the groveling after the third-act breakup was well done. I appreciated that Lucy didn’t immediately forgive Felix, making the resolution feel more earned.
Overall, this book had potential but didn’t fully deliver on the romance for me.
