While the story in Beware the Wild caught my interest within the first two chapters, Behold the Bones wasn't quite as lucky. For starters, I'm not a fan of Candy as a character. I find her brash, rude, unnecessarily abrasive and overall not fun to read about. Her character is well written, because that's exactly the way she's meant to come across, but I don't enjoy reading an entire book based on her narrative.
The story itself also wasn't as intriguing or gripping as Beware the Wild was. There were a few moments of interest and some potentially engaging plot points, but I found they weren't expanded on enough for me to actually attach myself to them. I don't feel this book was a necessary sequel to an otherwise good first story.
