Batman Vol. 1: Failsafe
by Chip Zdarsky
This was a pretty strong volume, but I think the only thing that didn't really hit with me was the last storyline; the first two were fantastic, and I loved the fact that everything did sort of line up together, but I Am A Gun dragged a little much for my taste. Failsafe and Two Birds, One Throne hit it out of the park, though, I just wish this didn't fall so flat in the end. I understand that these were sort of interspersed, so that makes it a little more interesting, but having the full arc at the end was a bit... I don't know, something didn't fit and I didn't find myself enjoying it as much because of that.
Outside of a bit of clunk at the back, though, this was strong, and I'm interested to see where Zdarsky's run goes, particularly the aftermath.
