What We Broke
by Marley Valentine
Jesse and Leo go through a heartbreaking tragedy that takes a toll on their marriage. As they both struggle to cope with their trauma, their relationship starts to suffer.
Although I'm not usually a fan of stories that switch between past and present, this one was exceptionally well-executed. The characters' emotions felt real and raw, and I was fully invested in their journey. While there were moments when I found myself frustrated with both Jesse and Leo, I also empathized with them and understood their pain and insecurities.
The way the characters' relationships were developed was another highlight for me. I appreciate books that portray strong co-parenting dynamics, and this one did not disappoint.
