Eclipsed Empire
by Tessa Hale
Again.. wishing for more. There was a bit more depth but really it was just more cliff notes story sharing. The only one that outright apologized was Ender believe it or not but he is still keeping his distance and being a dick. I thought Brix and Kingston would be the ones to actually apologize. Nope. Brix just goes psycho and creates a bonfire of heads for her then gives a love confession. Kingston avoids her but leaves little gifts. Then when they do talk he talks about his sister and he gives her a love confession. The groveling is nonexistent. Locke and Puck grovel more than the others and they were the only ones who didn’t need to. And like I was worried about, heavily relying on mate bonds so she doesn’t have to actually develop believable relationships. The only one I sense chemistry with is Brix. Everyone else is just.. there.
The mages from book one? Gone. Sooo what’s the deal with them? They seemed important to the plot in book 1 and we got nothing.
The whole mean girl gang is getting annoying. What’s the point of them being around? Wren never cowered to them. The guys don’t give them the time of day. The jealous mean girl thing doesn’t work if it doesnt get under the FMC’s skin or causes conflict in the relationship.
This book like the Psycho Shifters series. Are they good? Not really. Are they still entertaining? Yes in an it’s easy to digest way. It's a super fast read. And it has decent banter.
Plot is weak. Character and relationship development is lacking. The world building is minimal. And the writing is meh.
