I..didn't realize this wasn't going to be stand alone/I was going to have to wait for another book to finish the story up. I hate when I do that oops. I loved loved the original trilogy when I was a kid, maybe honestly the book I have read the most times in my life so it's great to be back in the world. Lyra is (as an intentional plot point) frustrating in this novel, and it did interfere with my enjoyment of the novel, because her character flaws felt over fixated on and repeated at the expense of plot movement. The original trilogy felt so large, with so many varied characters and worlds, and this feels like a small plot in comparison.
