Hawkeye #1 by David Aja, Matt Fraction

"I'm an orphan raised by carnies fighting with a stick and a string from the Palaeolithic era." - that's almost all you need to know about Clint Barton. Clint's self-deprecating humour as he deals with characters such as the "tracksuit mafia", Russians who continuously say "bro" until you can't get it out of your head like it's some frightening chant, is absolutely what makes this series. Not only this, but Clint standing up to help people in his apartment building makes him feel more human than a lot of the superheroes I've head about. And rescuing the dog is actually heart-warming. It's hard not to immediately love Clint.
