vlthrasher 's review for:
The Count of Monte Cristo [Abridged]
by Alexandre Dumas
This book was quite book. The beginning was my favorite part (before the Count goes to Rome) but much of this book was very enjoyable. It was very soap-opera-esque. It felt like all the common soap-opera tropes were in this book but they made it more enjoyable surprisingly. The amount of controlled chaos in the story is amazing. The only reason I gave this book 4 stars instead of 5 was because I found the middle confusing until I drew a character map. So many new characters were introduced all with different relations to one another. I was lost for awhile which drew about some boredom until I drew the character map that really helped.
