Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir

Trigger Warnings: Gore, self-harm, suicide

This book is a piece of work, but I mean that in the best possible way. Tamsyn has one of the snarkiest and witty narrative voices I have come across in a long time and it works so well considering her main characters are also incredibly snarky, stubborn and stupid. I feel like if you looked the word "ignoramus" up in the dictionary, you would find a picture of Harrow and Gideon sitting side by side proudly throwing up middle fingers. All that being said, this is an incredibly well-written book. The amount of detail that went into the necromantic theories and principals is astounding. I'm also obsessed with Tamsyn's naming conventions.
