This is a collection, so there’s no easy way to review the thing as a whole. The theme is (as best I can recall) one I’ve never heard of before - outside of places where writers talk freely, of course, and while the individual pieces run the usual gamut of wildly differing styles, they all share and convey viscerally the sense of what is to be a creator nowadays, the frustration and joys of being an artist. There’s also a wonderful element of collaboration between the authors, as shared elements echo through the stories, somehow unifying theme contextually as well as thematically.
“There’s something for everyone” is a bit overused, but not wrong in this case. I’d say well over 2/3 of the stories really blew me away, and the other 1/3 were still a solid and enjoyable read.
Over-all, I’m comfy with a 4* rating, and would (and will) recommend this to others.
