Ayoade on Top by Richard Ayoade

5.0

Did I know I needed an academic dissection of an obscure Gwyneth Paltrow film, or Richard Ayoade’s musings on sex toys in my life? No. But now that I have experienced them I can no longer live in a world without their existence.

Ayoade’s trademark dry wit is on brand in this quirky book, and works fantastically as an audiobook. I’ve not laughed so much to myself for most of 2020, good job I was wearing a face mask half the time while listening to it in public else the town would think I’d gone mad. It made the little budding academic in me who loves obscure references very happy. If you enjoy Ayoade’s comedy then I’d highly recommend it!
