This series continues to keep me entertained, though I found Amaranthe particularly irksome in this one. I'm all for characters with flaws, but her decisions here really made me wonder why anyone would forgive her.

I very much enjoyed reading from Akstyr's POV, though. It was really good to see him become more rounded, and it made him much, much more interesting to me. Of all the alternate POV characters these books have offered, he was by far my favorite.

The book ends on a mega cliffhanger, which annoyed me to no end, since I really, really hate cliffhangers.
