I like the premise of the story, but the execution was weak. Some of the dialogue (and inner dialogue) of the main character was annoying due to use of chemical terms in place of common terms in everyday conversation. The book felt like the author's soapbox about a variety of topics; although I agree with most of the ideas, this reflected poorly on the writing. And many of the characters, especially at the beginning of the book, felt like caricatures and stereotypes. All that being said, it was a pretty fast read, I became attached to some of the characters, and enjoyed the story (although it was fairly predictable). Either the writing improved or I was able to ignore it more as the story went on.
Graphic: Sexual assault
