This book was one of my favorites when I was growing up— I read it at least three times before graduating from high school. Coming back to it as an adult… I can’t believe how dark it is! The depictions of child abuse and neglect were tough to read now that I fully understand what was happening to the main character. But - overall I enjoyed jumping back into this world and seeing where my love of dystopian stories originated. I’m looking forward to picking up the second book this summer, which I’ve never read before!
