okay i am 2 exams lighter and ready to rant about literature :D

PROS :
- conceptually this is pretty cool like at face value the idea was pretty cool
- the themes that were featured such as colonization were well discussed and were subtlety
incorporated in the story without needing to spell it out
- i was much more invested in the relationships between characters than the individual characters so
   that counts for something aha
- gothic atmosphere

CONS :
- for a large majority of the book it felt like nothing happened. most of the book was spent
following noemí around the house while mildly spooky and weird things happened. i
only held out because i wanted to see what the ending could POSSIBLY BE
- i wasn't necessarily scared. it had the atmosphere but that's pretty much it.
- none of the characters stood out and couldn't really develop any connection to them. noemí fell
into a pretty obvious role of the one we were supposed to root for but like the only really i cared
about her was because the other people was weird. so beyond wanting her to leave the weirdness
    i didn't care aH
- overall with all the hype and awards i was just kinda underwhelmed :0

thank you for coming to my ted talk
