An Unnatural Vice by KJ Charles

5.0

I would only read books like this if I could find enough of them. It's like a romance between a snake and a mongoose.

More murder and intrigue! Mechanical details of 'seances'! Two very intense, sharp characters! Gosh do I love people who know what they're about, and these two know what they're about, I wanted to read this story since Susan first namedropped them and it is good. It's also, uh, obviously a very specific niche, so approach if it's your thing, but wow. The writing is excellent as always, and it looks like the books in this trilogy are actually set simultaneously, which is very exciting, and the references to past/future books and characters are just my favourite thing. Clem is even more loveable in this one. Susan is a menace. Delightful.

I hope I did not just read my favourite book of 2021 on Jan 4th
