The Hiding Place
by Corrie ten Boom
A historical NON-fiction read that I had to continuously remind myself is a TRUE story! Corrie’s story is beautiful and heartbreaking and encouraging and awe inspiring all at the same time. Her story takes place during WWII in Holland and Germany. Corrie & her family are strong Christians who truly live their lives to share the goodness of God. I kid you not at one point Corrie’s sister, Betsie, thanks God for fleas! And then, God in His mercy reveals to them the goodness that came from the flea situation. There are so many moments when I had to stop, remind myself that it’s a true story, and give God glory for how He worked in and through the lives of the ten Boom family.
Not a Christian and a little weary about reading a book from a Christian author who speaks very openly about her faith?
My challenge would be to give it a shot! I think you’d love the story and it’s barely over 200 pages so it doesn’t even take long to read if it ends up not being your cup of tea. Though, regardless of your religion, I think we can all learn from & appreciate a true story from this tragic part of our world’s history.
