karathagan 's review for:
Magpie Murders
by Anthony Horowitz
Read at Mom's suggestion, this wasn't what I expected. For one, it was significantly longer - due to being about a book within a book. I forgot about the outer book after a few chapters, I don't think I liked the editor a whole lot. She was fine but I didn't connect. Which is maybe surprising given her book-loving, marriage viewpoint (at first), and her questioning. I also didn't connect with Atticus Pund.
Interesting story. I'm of two minds about mixing the real and fictional stories. Hm. Overall, I think I would say it was a bit long for the substance. I also kind of wanted Alan Conway to have a ghostwriter - it would explain the vastly different writing styles.
