The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

1.0

This was basically "The Secret" in parable form: The universe will conspire to make your destiny come true if you just want it badly enough. There are no coincidences, and life is full of obtuse omens trying to convince you to follow the right path.

Utter nonsense, of course. This was only barely tolerable because it was packaged in a magical fantasy land, where suspending disbelief of such absurdity comes much easier. Still a total waste of time that at best is a Hallmark card of optimism, and at worst convinces people that the central premises have any relation to reality.
