Judy Blume was one of my favorite authors growing up and her writing still stands the test of time.
While some of this book is wicked dated, the heart of the story with Deenie coming to terms with her scoliosis diagnosis and learning to be more open and accepting to those around her still ring true.
The ending felt a little abrupt and I would have liked to see more of Deenie's experiences post-brace, but it's impressive how aptly Judy Blume captures teenage anxieties and emotions.
