The Lost World by Michael Crichton

3.0

I enjoyed this more than I enjoyed Jurassic Park I think because I wasn't so familiar with the film as I was JP. However, it quickly became clear that this storyline follows a very similar blue print as the first novel. We have two young children who end up on this island with a group of smart adults. All of the adults are very similar to the first set of characters. Grant and Ellie are just replaced by Thorne and Sarah Harding. Malcom is the same and Levine is basically just the Hammond of book 2. The secondary threat of the 'bad guys' getting the dinosaurs is literally the exact same as book 1. The ending is just so anti-climactic. I just don't understand why Michael once again wrote a book that is so full of tension just for the good ending to come about without the characters really doing anything to gain it? Overall I rate this one more than JP but it just didn't fully deserve 4 stars.
