3 Stars...!!
This book was in the same storyline of books like The Deal and Sweet Home. A rich guy fall for a pretty normal girl who makes him fall flat on his ass.
But unlike Rome and Garrett, our hero is a little different. He is not a tortured but a lost hero. Yes,his family is disfunctional, but he is merely confused and lost sailing through life. Oh and did I'm nation he runs an underground illegal casino. Yup. He will tempt you ladies...!!
I liked jade. She was sarcastic, snarky, and I love the slap she gave Shep in the begidoesn't She was a tough one but all sweet inside. They made a good pair.
So why three Stars you ask..?
The problem with the book for me was there was a lot of things to like in it,but I did not quite love anything. They do made a cute couple and I did love their banter. But they lacked substance. I never came across a scene where they talk, you know, get to know each other. Nothing at all deep. There wasn't even one moment where they share there weaknesses, their past, their pain. Nothing Nada.
I was a bit disappointed by the author here...!:( because the characters were rich and substantial. She could have developed them into something deeper. But I felt like she just scratched the surface of both of them.
And then there was Shep. In many instances he himself agrees he is a rich spoilt brat who has everything he needs and doesn't have to work for anything. And the sad part is throughout the book he doesn't, not even for our pretty heroine. Even when he screws up she easily forgives and forget. I felt like he was too damn lucky. The only problem he had was a set of overbearing and selfish parents. Come on that's not the end of the world. I mean they weren't abusive or controlling, they were just selfish and demanding.
Our hero really had it easy...!!
I feelthe author should have given him a voice and a purpose here. We even get to what their college major were at the end. Ughh..!! I was really frustrated at the lack of resourceful character building information...!!
Okay I guess I did enough bitching. Don't get me wrong though. I did like the book.. (Like being the key word!)
It was pretty cute read...
People who like college stories about a player brought to heel should definitely go for it..!!
