True Grit by Charles Portis
2.0
A naive, pious and preachy protagonist/narrator with no self-awareness laconically droning over a story that could be good if the writing didn't suck out all of the fun and make the reading experience utterly devoid of emotion and excitement. I understand that for some people it adds a level of humor to the book, but I just couldn't find any enjoyment in it.
