i struggled through the first half of this book - despite the enchanting prose and writing style the plot was lacking something for around 200 pages, which is what takes it down to 3.5 stars for me.
however, the second half! The tension betweenevangeline and jacks had be on the edge of my seat. unlike in caraval, this author didn’t give us the easy and obvious solutions to problems that suddenly fixed everything. the problems just keep coming and the solutions truly have to be searched for, which i love.
whether I love or hate the way this one ended will depend on the next book and how it carries, but i’m picking it up straight away.
