I felt this book was a great representation of a trans autistic character. It described what being trans and neurodivergent can feel like, and the wording is so beautiful when describing the main characters thoughts and feelings. I love the personification of Silas’s anxiety with the rabbit in his chest. I was also kept on the edge of my seat with the intense murder investigation taking place throughout. Loved reading this for Halloween season!
Graphic: Adult/minor relationship, Body horror, Body shaming, Child abuse, Confinement, Deadnaming, Emotional abuse, Gore, Homophobia, Mental illness, Miscarriage, Misogyny, Panic attacks/disorders, Pedophilia, Physical abuse, Self harm, Sexism, Sexual assault, Sexual violence, Suicidal thoughts, Torture, Transphobia, Violence, Forced institutionalization, Medical content, Medical trauma, Abortion, Suicide attempt, Murder, Outing, Gaslighting, Abandonment, Sexual harassment, Dysphoria, Injury/Injury detail, Classism
If you are easily triggered by transphobia, torture, institutionalization, and misogyny, this book is not for you. It’s extremely dark and covers a lot of sensitive topics.
