Someone Comes to Town, Someone Leaves Town
by Cory Doctorow
There are two major threads to the narrative here. One is an enjoyable magical realism piece about the protagonist's strange family (his parents are a mountain and a washing machine) and childhood. The other is more Doctorow-typical and concerns an attempt to blanket a small town in free wireless Internet connectivity. These threads really didn't mesh well at all, and the resultant story felt awkwardly disjointed.
