Where the Crawdads Sing
by Delia Owens
I have such mixed feelings about this book. The plot and storyline, in my opinion, are simplistic and underwhelming. But the world building, the atmosphere, and the characters were enough to bring the occasional tear to my eyes. The writing is beautiful, and I truly felt swept away into a lush new world populated with some of the most lovable characters (Jumpin', Mabel, Tate, and Kya) I've ever read. The descriptions of the marsh are as beautiful as everyone says. But still, the story didn't quite cut it for me. Definitely worth a read, but perhaps not worth all the hype.
