3.5

3.5⭐️ if I’m being completely honest. I loved the first two books in this series, but the final installment fell flat in my opinion. It was the Aefe chapters/storyline for me that stopped this book from being another Broadbent 5⭐️ read. I understand why Aefe deserved a story, after spending 500 years as a weapon and then finally getting her life back, but the disposition on her new life left a sour taste in my mouth. I really wanted her to fade into nothing after part one.
Aefe aside, the rest of the book was great. Max and Tissanah came full circle. They seemed to achieve all the goals that each had set out for themselves in their youth, and even expanded on those goals but pushing the limits of their magic, and their bodies and creating and world full of peace; of hope. True, this could not be attained without Caduan, and where he was, Aefe could be found, but I would have enjoyed it more if she were eliminated earlier. Maybe Caduan makes the same decision at the end, but in her honor and not by her side.
Overall this was an amazing fantasy series; one that I would absolutely recommend. The sheer size of the series is intimating, but I feel like it is an excellent series for new fantasy readers. At the base of the books is magic, revenge and redemption, all woven together through the timeless motto that love truly conquers all.
