Amazing ! If I’m being honest I only started this book because they came out with a show & the trailer looked good so I had to read it first 🤷🏾♀️. I know that’s not what y’all wanna hear, but it’s the truth...and I’m so glad I did! At first I was a bit confused at the writing. I wanna say it took me a minute to catch the dialogue at first, but after I got straight into the writers groove. This book talks about love, and the ways you can think something is love when it’s really not. It talks about suicide, and mental health. There is an overall subject on loneliness and what that means for different people. It was brilliant. I was so excited when I finished the book, I watched the series the same day! They did the book justice. The actors were impeccable, and they kept the same dialogue from the book. Amen Sally.
✨UPDATE✨
2nd read: Jan 26th - Jan 31st⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
(Did I prolong my reading so it would be my last book in January? Yes I did)
2nd watch: TBA
I am very happy I reread this book. I know everyone is either team love or team dislike (ain’t no hating for Rooney over here). Whether or not you disliked it because it was “boring” or you didn’t care for her “writing style”; I think there is much to be said about the subjects mentioned throughout the story.
𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 explores the complexities of personal growth, friendship, and love. It touches on political, and social issues as well as abuse. There’s so much chatter about the two protagonists, and all I have to say about that is: they’re both broken young adults with clear mental and emotional issues. There will be miscommunication. There will be insecurities…and there will be heartbreak.
Is that not real life for some people? Unfortunately, not everyone has a happy life or a happy ending. Though I was initially destroyed by the ending on my first read; I found peace on my second. I appreciate this story, and so many others like it. I know personally, it is relatable to me in certain aspects.
Wait…
I almost forgot. Jamie stans…please come to the front. Did we read the same book? In my case, twice🤔FOH.
