Stuart Little
by E.B. White
Stuart Little began irresistibly for my children and myself as there was a perfect blend of whimsy and fantasy. We greatly enjoyed the fact that Stuart Little's existence was absurd yet readily accepted by each character. The first half was full of humor, and we were really into the story when it concerned Stuart's adventures at his house and his interactions with his family. The narrative went downhill around the time that darn bird, Margalo was introduced. This broke our hearts a bit, and the abrupt ending also came as a shock. We listed to the audiobook, and Julie Harris gave an outstanding performance by providing sound effects and a wide variety of character voices.
