I was quite convinced I didn’t like detectives until I found Steinbeck and Reed through a reading challenge. I happily made it to the third novel, and it had dogs!! (That Van was a bit too careless with if you ask me, with the abuser somewhere still around ).
This one was fairly predictable, but it was a nice way to add some story to wrapping up the loose threads in the series. Slow start tho, lots of victim chapters and then all Van chapters are reminders of the previous instalments, which I somewhat appreciated after some time passed, but they where taking op a relatively larger part of the book than necessary.
However, it once again had the mysterious visions and the weird biological/genetic explanation to the crime, and although none of the sequels came close to the first book for me, I got back into this world easily and I do think it is time to read the tiny origin story.
